his Sunday kicks off the first of four Summer Streets events. Regent Street is going completely traffic free every Sunday in July to make way for picnics, Pimms and a host of a number of summer activities, from early morning group exercise sessions to public garden parties and tasting markets. These Summer Streets give a perfect opportunity for walking or cycling into the West End, promoting a more sustainable city environment and improving London’s air quality, giving visitors the chance to explore the street in a traffic-free environment between 10am and 6pm every Sunday this month.
The festivities will take on a different unique theme each weekend through July. This weekend will see the tarmac transformed into a lawn for a massive Garden party, featuring live jazz, ice sculptures and a marquee full of butterflies and bees.
Food is the focus on 13 July, with 60 stalls serving goodies to snack on, a strawberry dipping bar and live performances from West End Kids, Jive Aces and City Academy.
Fashion takes over on 20 July, with free makeovers, a 100m catwalk and live music to strut along to.
Music is the final theme for 27 July, and will see thousands of free ice creams given out to celebrate Magnum’s 25th birthday plus a huge range of musical performances.
This event is completely free – you can just turn up and enjoy all the fun activities that they have laid out. For more information you can visit the Regent Street – Summer Streets website.
