This week we have been checking out two potential venues for our next big myOE Play night in London – but there are so many fab London venues to choose from it is a tricky job to decide! So here are two from our short list for our big bash in September:
Apples and Pears Bar is a colourful trendy cocktail bar bursting with personality and has its very own secret basement, which is apparently perfect for private parties! As its cockney rhyming slang name suggests, there’s certainly a hint of the East End boozer vibe to this bar, but with a cool eclectic vibe – the trendy neighbourhood bar with a difference. The area we are looking at for our Play night is the Apples and Pears cellar-style basement area, which has an intimate feel with its own bar and DJ space.
Apples and Pears is located on the fabulous Brick Lane and is just five minutes’ walk from the Aldgate East tube, and with its innovative cocktails and interesting interior (oh and its gourmet popcorn including such flavours as Gin and tonic, peanut butter, and tomato, olive oil and mozzerella!) – this is most definitely a good contender!
And then for something completely different… All aboard this fabulously peculiar floating pub!
The Tamesis is a converted 1930s Dutch barge, moored permanently between Lambeth and Vauxhall Bridge. The barge is now a floating pub with live music and a private function space making it a perfect party spot. There is a great top deck where you can sit and soak up the rays on the Thames without ever having to set sail, but also in order to not be completely reliant on the British sunshine, there is a split deck inside with the lower deck available for private hire. This cosy area has its own bar, DJ area and port holes to still enjoy the view!
The Tamesis location is key, with a beautiful view of Big Ben, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament – with a lively, funky interior and cool/chilled feel it is a gem of a find on the Southbank.
So which one would you choose? We’ll keep you posted!
