Spring has certainly sprung in London, and there is nothing quite like this beautiful city in full bloom. We were told last month that London had been ranked the number one destination on Earth – and we think the best way to experience the city at this time of year is most definitely by foot!
At the end of last year London Transport bosses unveiled a comprehensive walking tube map, highlighting the physical walking times between central London’s Tube stations. Since then they have been investing heavily in improving all the walking and cycling routes across London, with all the health benefits these changes will hopefully encourage. With the sunshine out and set to continue, now is definitely the time to see how quick and easy it is to get across London without having to tackle a busy tube in the middle of the day.
The tube has always been the most used transport method for visitors to London, but now it can easily be seen that so any of our top sights and attractions are within walking distance of each other. We would definitely recommend navigating your way around this fantastic city above ground, whilst taking in all of its iconic sights! You can go from the bustling excitement of Leicester Square to the fantastic markets of Covent Garden, as an example, in a 4 minute walk which is a fraction of the time it takes on the tube – although, that said, is only if you can resist all the fabulous shops and sights along the way, which of course is a challenge in itself.
We at myOE would be happy to help you navigate the ropes of your overseas experience in this beautiful city once you have arrived.
