myOE works closely with our UK recruitment partners and according to UK General Manager Andy Myers, accounting experience is currently in hot demand.
“We work closely with several key recruitment partners, which ensures we have an accurate and up-to-date picture of the UK job market. What we are seeing is that there are lots of jobs to fill for anyone with accountancy experience, whether you are CPA or a Chartered (or Certified level) Accountant professional or have experience in entry level accounting roles. Any experience is good experience.”
This is supported by the latest Reed Job Index, which is compiled using data from over 10,000 employers, and shows there were 8% more opportunities on offer in May than in April. Annually, the growth in new positions stands at over 17%.
Mr Myers says the rise in job numbers has been evident on the ground.
“We have noticed a rise in job numbers for our myOE candidates, with more opportunities being put before them in recent weeks. Most people are now securing employment within 3-4 weeks of arriving in the UK.
“Also, with the high demand for accounting professionals, some of our new contractors from overseas are choosing to accept jobs as soon as they arrive, taking a slightly easier role or a shorter term contract while they find their feet and make time to explore the UK and Europe at the weekends before they seek out a longer term role.”
Mr Myers says there are also growing opportunities in other related roles for non-accountants, in areas such as risk and regulatory change, and cyber crime and fraud.
