Australia Day 2015 takes place next Monday 26th January with celebrations all over London to pay tribute to our neighbours from the southern hemisphere that are living, working and playing hard in the UK! Australia Day Movie Marathon

Jetlag Bar: 125 Cleveland Street, W1T 6QB on Monday 26th January

The popular Jetlag sports bar is putting on a party in honour of Australia Day with this day of free film screening. They are kicking off at 3pm with a screening of The Castle, followed by Aussie classics Strictly Ballroom, Muriel’s Wedding and The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. While you’re watching you can feast on surf ‘n’ turf sliders, kangaroo steaks and Antipodean snacks washed down with Aussie beers including Little Creatures, Coopers and James Boags.

Comedy Carnival Australia Day Show

Bar Rumba: 36 Shaftesbury Avenue, W1D 7EP on Monday 26th January

London-based Australian stand-up Felicity Ward headlines this night of southern hemisphere-flavoured laughs. Felicity is supported by fellow countrymen, comedians Wayne Deakin and Damian Clark, plus Kiwi ‘joke ninja’ Javier Jarquin. After the show there will be a club night until 3am with DJs counting down Aussie radio station Triple J’s Hottest 100 tracks of the year, as voted by listeners.

Aussie Day in the WigWamBam

Queen of Hoxton rooftop: 1 Curtain Road, EC2A 3JX on Monday 26th January

The Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop wigwam will be hosting a huge Aussie barbie to celebrate ‘Straya Day’. They will be cooking up kangaroo and pepper kebabs, burgers and surf ‘n’ turf favourites, all served with Australian beers and other native grog. Downstairs there will be dancing, where on the decks will be Natalie Bang Bang and Laura-Mary from Blood Red Shoes.

The Church Australia Day Party

Electric Brixton: Town Hall Parade, SW2 1RJ, on Sunday 25th January

If you want to commune with several hundred Antipodean party people, head to their London home from home, notorious ex-pat temple of debauchery, The Church. The amber nectar will be flowing, and there will be karaoke, costumes and performances galore. Always a fabulous night!

The Biggest Aussie Day Ever!

Walkabout: Temple Station, Temple Place, WC2R 2PH on Monday 26th January

That other mecca of Australian hedonism, the Walkabout, claim to be throwing ‘the biggest Australia Day party’ in London, starting at 10am and powering on through until 3am the following morning. Expect live music and DJs, plus fun and games from Bogan Bingo. There will be special offers on beer and pies and free breakfast baps for anyone who arrives before 12pm.
